How much does your trip cost? Fuel, toll and total

Tolls and budget Published on

In a route preview, Triq shows the estimated trip cost: fuel, toll and total. You can set the fuel type, your consumption and a manual price in Settings. These are estimates, useful for deciding before you leave.

Before hitting the road between two cities, the real question is often: "how much is this going to cost me?" Triq answers it in the route preview.

What you see

So you compare two routes on something other than time. A trip on the motorway doesn't have the same total as a national road.

What you can set

In Settings, you enter:

The closer your consumption is to reality, the more useful the estimate. It's still an estimate, not a guaranteed amount.

Where the prices come from

The toll is estimated from the official motorway rate table, detailed in the ADM rate table, completed by what drivers confirm (community tolls). For fuel, Triq relies on prices shared by the community when there are recent ones near the route, otherwise on your manual price.

When a rate isn't known, Triq never makes it up.

On foot and by bike

The Walking and Bike modes show neither toll nor fuel, since they don't have any.

An example of use

You're torn between the motorway and the national road to visit your family. Open the preview of both routes: you compare the duration, but also the toll and the total. Depending on what you're after, fast or cheap, the right choice isn't the same.

If you update your consumption after a few fill-ups, the estimate gets closer to your car.
