Triq privacy policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026.

In short

Triq is a free navigation app. It has no account, no targeted advertising and no third-party analytics.

Your position is used on your phone to guide you. Your trips are not recorded on our servers.

What stays on your phone

Your GPS position, favourites, search history, settings and offline maps.

Dashcam videos, and their sound if you turn it on in settings. They are never sent automatically: you choose whether to export them.

What is sent to our server

Only when you are online and strict offline mode is off, to triq-maps.com, hosted by LWS in France.

A random device identifier, not linked to your identity, and the app version, to limit abuse.

To show the online map, calculate a route or search for a place: the visible area, start, stops, destination or search text. This is used to answer the request. We do not keep your trips and we do not write coordinates in our logs.

Your community reports (type, position, time): other users can see them, then they expire automatically, from 30 minutes to 7 days depending on the type. Each phone can send 10 per hour.

The fuel prices you enter (station, fuel, price, time) and your answers about toll fares (plaza, amount, yes or no): they help other drivers, without your name, and are tied only to the random device identifier. Prices are kept for 60 days, toll answers for 12 months.

Suggestion box messages, if you write one: the text, the category, the language, the app version and, only if you ask for a reply, your e-mail address. They are read by the Triq team, tied to the random device identifier (3 messages a day at most), and deleted 12 months after being sent or with "Delete my data".

If you turn on "Help spot slowdowns" (optional, off by default): anonymous speed samples, one per road section of about 300 m (rounded area, direction, average speed, limit, time rounded to 5 minutes), sent in batches without any device identifier, never near your home or work and never at the start or end of a trip. They are used only to warn other drivers of an unusual slowdown and are deleted after 2 hours. No trip is recorded.

Live trip sharing, if you start it: your position and destination through a temporary link. Sharing ends when you stop it.

For ads: a count of views and clicks per ad, with no advertising identifier or profile. In strict offline mode, ads kept on the phone stay displayed; their counters stay on the phone and are sent only when you turn that mode off. An ad link opens in your browser, on the advertiser's website.

As with any Internet connection, our server sees your IP address when you download a map, a voice or a page.

What we do not do

We do not sell data, we do not pass it to third parties and we use no external analytics or advertising service.

Maps, places and routes come from our own servers, built from OpenStreetMap data.

Permissions

Location: for guidance and to place your reports.

Camera and, if you turn it on, microphone: for the dashcam. Foreground services: to keep guidance and recording running with the screen off.

Notifications and Bluetooth: to start guidance when your car connects, if you choose. Internet: for online features.

Your choices and rights

Strict offline mode: stops all exchanges with our server.

Settings > Privacy > Delete my data: erases what the app keeps on your phone and asks our server to erase what relates to your device.

You can uninstall the app at any time. The device identifier is not linked to any name.

Children and changes

Triq is not intended for children under 13. If this policy changes, the date above is updated.
