Android Auto and Triq: GPS on your car's screen

Triq is compatible with Android Auto. On your car's screen, you get the map, guidance, search, your places, a route preview, reports and the Offline maps screen. Dark mode and sun mode also apply to Android Auto.

A small phone screen isn't ideal at the wheel. Android Auto shows Triq on your car's screen, bigger and better placed.

What you can do

On Android Auto, Triq supports:

• the map and guidance;
• searching for a place;
• your saved places;
• the route preview before you leave;
• community reports;
• the Offline maps screen.

So you can prepare and start a trip without picking up your phone. The guidance voices stay the ones you chose; to set them up, read voice guidance in 4 languages.

Day and night

Dark mode and sun mode also apply on Android Auto, and the online map follows the theme since version 0.11.7. The automatic switch to night mode, from 7 pm to 6 am, darkens the map too. To understand it all, read dark, night and sun modes.

Without a network

If you've downloaded your maps, guidance and route search work even without a connection. That's handy on roads where the network drops. To find out how, read offline maps.

Getting started

1. Install Triq on your Android phone (Android 8 or later). 2. Download at least your region's map. 3. Connect your phone to the car as described in your vehicle's manual. 4. Open Triq from the car's screen.

The connection details depend on your car. If it doesn't offer Android Auto, Triq can still be used on your phone, with the same guidance.

A precaution

Set your destination while stopped whenever possible. The car's screen is there to guide you, not to distract you.

Reporting from the car

Community reports are also available on the car's screen. To learn the two-tap gesture, read reporting in two taps. Passenger? You're the one touching the screen, not the driver. If Triq doesn't appear on the car's screen, first check that the app is up to date and that the cable or wireless connection is working.
