Triq without an account: what happens to my privacy?
Triq works without an account, without targeted advertising and without third-party audience measurement tools. Your location is used to guide you on your phone and your trips are not stored on our servers. What goes to the server is linked to a random device identifier, with no link to your identity.
No account to create, no password. But what really happens to your data? Here's the gist of Triq's privacy policy, in plain language.
What stays on your phone
Your GPS location, your favourites, your search history, your settings and your offline maps. Dashcam videos also stay with you, with their sound if you turn it on. They are never sent automatically: you choose whether to export them or not. See Dashcam, sound and privacy.
What the server receives
Only when you're online and strict offline mode is off. The server is triq-maps.com, hosted by LWS in France.
- a random device identifier, with no link to your identity, and the app version, to limit abuse;
- the displayed area, the start, the destination or the search text, to answer your request. Trips are not kept and no coordinates are written to the logs;
- your reports (type, position, time), visible to others and then automatically expired;
- the fuel prices and toll answers you enter, without your name.
Other submissions are optional: an idea box message, trip sharing, anonymous speed samples for slowdowns (off by default).
What we don't do
- We don't sell data.
- We don't pass any on to third parties.
- We don't use any external analytics or advertising service.
Ads are counted (views and clicks), but without an advertising identifier or profile.
Your choices
Strict offline mode cuts off all exchanges with the server. See Strict offline mode. And "Delete my data" erases what the app keeps on the phone (except offline maps and, if you choose, dashcam videos) and what relates to your device on the server: we explain how.
As with any internet connection, the server sees your IP address when you download a map, a voice or a page.
Triq is not intended for children under 13. The full policy is on the website, with the date of the last update.
Triq is coming to Google Play; join the beta from the website.
